August was another busy month at Daisy Chains, filled with new experiences, big goodbyes and lots of opportunities for learning.
Our Pre-School children learnt all about the partial solar eclipse happening in August. We talked about what an eclipse is, what would be happening in the sky and importantly, how we can keep our eyes safe when observing the sun. The children were fascinated to learn about the sun and moon an enjoyed asking lots of questions about this exciting event.
August also brought some emotional goodbyes as we wished our school leaders lots of luck as they prepared to begin their next adventure at primary school. We have loved watching them grow in confidence, independence and personality during their time with us, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. We know they are ready for their big next step!
We created a brand new outdoor library where children and families can bring along a book they have finished with and swap it for something new to enjoy at home. We hope this encourages a love of books beyond nursery, gives stories a new lease of life and makes sharing and enjoying books together even more accessible for our families.
Our Mini Minds focus for August was Strongasarus! We explored what it means to be strong in lots of different ways. The children put their muscles to the test using our outdoor pull-up bar, developing their upper-body strength, coordination and perseverance.
We also talked about superheroes and how they might use their strength to protect and help other people. This opened up conversation about how being strong isn’t just about having big muscles, we can show strength through being brave, helping others, trying again the something is difficult and standing up for what is right.
